Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. In another bowl, whisk melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  4. Mix in egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract until creamy.
  5. Stir dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips evenly through the dough.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized dough balls onto baking sheet with space between.
  8. Bake 10–12 minutes until edges are golden and centers soft.
  9. Cool on baking sheet 5 minutes, then transfer to rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Do not overbake for soft, chewy centers.
  • Chill dough 30 minutes for thicker cookies if desired.
  • Store in airtight container up to 5 days.
