Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
- In another bowl, whisk melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Mix in egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract until creamy.
- Stir dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips evenly through the dough.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized dough balls onto baking sheet with space between.
- Bake 10–12 minutes until edges are golden and centers soft.
- Cool on baking sheet 5 minutes, then transfer to rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Do not overbake for soft, chewy centers.
- Chill dough 30 minutes for thicker cookies if desired.
- Store in airtight container up to 5 days.
