Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup dried or 2 cups canned beans soaked if needed
  • 2 cups diced cooked ham
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 carrots sliced
  • 2 celery stalks sliced
  • 3 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp salt adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp thyme optional

Method
 

  1. In a pot, sauté onion, carrots, and celery until soft.
  2. Add beans, ham, broth, garlic, salt, pepper, and thyme.
  3. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 25–30 minutes until beans are tender.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  5. Serve hot with crusty bread if desired.

  • Use pre-cooked ham for quicker preparation.
  • Canned beans can reduce cooking time.
