  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F) and line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk melted butter and sugar until glossy and smooth.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla and whisk until thick and creamy.
  4. Sift in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder.
  5. Fold gently until just combined (do not overmix).
  6. Stir in chocolate chips if using.
  7. Spread batter evenly into prepared pan.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes until edges set and center slightly soft.
  9. Cool completely in pan before slicing into squares.

Notes

Do not overbake for fudgy texture; center should look slightly underdone.
