Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups water for soaking
  • 4 cups milk
  • ½ cup sugar adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 –2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Cinnamon sticks for garnish optional
  • Ice cubes

Method
 

  1. Rinse rice and soak in 2 cups water for 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Drain rice and blend with soaking water until smooth.
  3. Strain mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher.
  4. Add milk, sugar, vanilla, and ground cinnamon; stir until combined.
  5. Chill horchata in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  6. Serve over ice cubes and garnish with cinnamon sticks if desired.

Notes

  • Adjust sugar based on your sweetness preference.
  • For a creamier texture, use half-and-half instead of milk.
  • Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Shake well before serving, as separation may occur.
