Ingredients
  

  • All-purpose flour – 2¼ cups
  • Baking soda – 1 tsp
  • Salt – ½ tsp
  • Unsalted butter softened – ¾ cup
  • Brown sugar – ¾ cup
  • Granulated sugar – ½ cup
  • Egg – 1 large
  • Egg yolk – 1
  • Vanilla extract – 2 tsp
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips – 1½ cups

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and line baking trays with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in egg, egg yolk, and vanilla until smooth.
  5. Mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips evenly.
  7. Scoop dough balls onto tray leaving space between each.
  8. Bake 10–12 minutes until edges are golden and centers soft.
  9. Cool on tray 5 minutes then transfer to rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra chewiness use more brown sugar than white sugar.
Do not overbake; cookies firm up as they cool.
Add a sprinkle of sea salt on top for gourmet flavor.
Store in an airtight container up to 4 days.
