- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 12-cup muffin pan with cupcake liners.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time until smooth.
- Mix in vanilla extract.
- Add dry ingredients alternating with milk until just combined.
- Fill liners about ⅔ full with batter.
- Bake 16–18 minutes until tops spring back lightly.
- Cool in pan 5 minutes then transfer to rack to cool completely.

Do not overmix batter to keep cupcakes fluffy.
